York County, Poquoson & Gloucester

The suburban and semi-rural communities of the upper Virginia Peninsula and across the York River — York County (pop. 70,045), the independent city of Poquoson (pop. 12,460), and Gloucester County (pop. 38,711). York County wraps around Yorktown (the Revolutionary War surrender site and county seat) and extends along the I-64 corridor with family-oriented neighborhoods in Tabb, Grafton, and Seaford that benefit from highly rated York County public schools. Poquoson, a small independent city on the Chesapeake Bay, is a tight-knit waterfront community known for crabbing and its annual Seafood Festival. Gloucester County, across the Coleman Bridge on the York River's north bank, offers rural and waterfront living centered on Gloucester Point (home to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science/William & Mary) and the historic Gloucester Courthouse area. These communities provide a quieter, more affordable lifestyle while maintaining access to Peninsula employment centers.
