Madison County sits east of Syracuse along the I-90 Thruway corridor and US-20. Anchored by the City of Oneida (the only Madison County city, split with the Village of Wampsville as the county seat), Cazenovia (a historic Federal-era village on the head of Cazenovia Lake, home of Cazenovia College), Canastota (home of the International Boxing Hall of Fame), Chittenango (birthplace of 'Wizard of Oz' author L. Frank Baum, the town features the All Things Oz Museum and an annual Oz Festival), Hamilton (home of Colgate University, one of the most selective small liberal arts universities in the country), and Morrisville (home of SUNY Morrisville, an agricultural and technical state college).
