The urban core of the metro centered on downtown Stockton, the county seat and largest city in San Joaquin County (pop ~320,800). Home to the University of the Pacific, Stockton Arena, the waterfront along the Stockton Deep Water Channel, and the historic Miracle Mile district. Central Stockton includes the Pacific Avenue corridor, the Hammer Lane commercial district, and neighborhoods like Garden Acres. This is the economic, cultural, and transit hub of the region, with the ACE train station and RTD bus network radiating outward.
