San Jose & South Valley

San Jose is the Bay Area's largest city by population (over 1 million) and the self-proclaimed 'Capital of Silicon Valley.' It is home to Adobe, Cisco, eBay, PayPal, and a growing downtown anchored by the SAP Center and San Jose State University. The city spans a vast area from Milpitas in the north through Almaden Valley in the south. Los Gatos and Morgan Hill extend the suburban footprint southward, while Gilroy -- famous for its annual Garlic Festival -- marks the metro's southern edge. BART's Berryessa/North San Jose station (opened 2020) connects the northern part of the city to the East Bay, with planned extensions through downtown San Jose.
