Central San Diego

The urban heart of the region centered on the city of San Diego itself, plus the resort enclave of Coronado across San Diego Bay. Central San Diego encompasses the diverse neighborhoods radiating from downtown — from the beach communities of Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, and Mission Beach on the west to the college neighborhoods around SDSU on the east, and from the upscale coastal village of La Jolla in the north to the historic neighborhoods of Hillcrest and North Park inland. The MTS Trolley Blue, Green, and Orange lines converge downtown, and San Diego International Airport (Lindbergh Field) sits just west of the urban core. UC San Diego, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo are all within this zone.
