South Side & Outer South

The communities south of downtown San Antonio, extending from the historic Mission Trail along the San Antonio River through the suburban fringes into Wilson County. The four southernmost Spanish colonial missions (Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada) form a UNESCO World Heritage Site along this corridor. Somerset and Von Ormy are small incorporated cities in southwest Bexar County, while Floresville — the Wilson County seat — serves as the commercial center for the rural south. Brooks, the redeveloped former Brooks Air Force Base, is emerging as a mixed-use district anchoring south-side revitalization.
