East Side

The communities east of downtown San Antonio along I-10 East and the Salado Creek corridor. Kirby, Windcrest, and Converse are established suburban cities with mid-century and ranch-style housing stock, while areas like Denver Heights and Dignowity Hill closer to downtown feature some of the city's oldest residential architecture and active revitalization. Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston occupies a large footprint on the near east side, driving local employment and housing demand. Judson ISD and East Central ISD serve the area's schools.
