Gentilly & New Orleans East

The eastern half of Orleans Parish, from the established Gentilly neighborhoods near Dillard University to the sprawling subdivisions of New Orleans East along the I-10 corridor. Gentilly is a long, graceful neighborhood stretching from Esplanade Avenue to the Industrial Canal, popular with families and university-affiliated residents. New Orleans East, developed primarily in the 1960s-1980s, covers an enormous area with suburban-style housing and a diverse, majority-minority population. The I-10 Twin Span Bridge connects this region to the North Shore via Slidell.
