Waterbury & Naugatuck Valley
I-84 / CT-8 Naugatuck Valley / Metro-North Waterbury Branch
The Naugatuck Valley is the industrial river corridor along the Naugatuck River, historically the center of American brass manufacturing. Anchored by Waterbury — Connecticut's fifth-largest city and the 'Brass City' — home to Post University, Naugatuck Valley Community College, Waterbury Hospital, and the Palace Theater. The region also includes Naugatuck Borough (on the Naugatuck River, home to the historic Naugatuck Green and the Peter Paul candy factory — maker of Mounds and Almond Joy), Ansonia and Derby (the 'Valley' twin cities along the lower Naugatuck), Seymour, Beacon Falls, Oxford, Wolcott, Prospect, and Middlebury. The Metro-North Waterbury Branch connects the valley to the New Haven Line at Bridgeport.
