The western rural/exurban edge of New Haven County along I-84 and US-6, transitioning toward Litchfield County and Fairfield County. Anchored by Southbury (home to the Heritage Village age-restricted community, one of the largest 55+ communities in New England) and Woodbury (actually in Litchfield County but often grouped with western New Haven Co for commuting patterns — known for its antique shops along US-6). The region includes Middlebury (home to the Quassy Amusement Park), Oxford, Prospect, and the hilly rural country along US-6. Many residents commute east to Waterbury or west/south to Danbury and the Gold Coast.
