North Shore

The windward coast east of Kahului, centered on the surf town of Paia and the lush, semi-rural community of Haiku-Pauwela. Paia is a former sugar plantation town reinvented as a bohemian hub for windsurfers, artists, and visitors heading to the Road to Hana. Haiku, further inland, offers larger lots, tropical vegetation, and a quieter pace. Spreckelsville, between Kahului and Paia, is a small beachfront enclave. The North Shore is the gateway to East Maui and the iconic Hana Highway.
