Tolland County is the semi-rural eastern county of the Hartford metro. Anchored by Vernon (containing the Rockville section, the former 'Mill City' of the Tankerhoosen Valley, home to Rockville General Hospital), Tolland, Ellington, Coventry (hometown of Revolutionary War hero Nathan Hale), Mansfield (home to the University of Connecticut's flagship Storrs campus — UConn's main campus with ~27,000 students), Stafford, Willington, Somers, Andover, Bolton, Columbia, Hebron, and Union (the smallest town in Connecticut by population). The region is characterized by UConn, rolling farm country, and small New England villages.
