Anchored by Millersburg (a historic river town, home to the Millersburg Ferry — the last remaining wooden double stern-wheel paddleboat ferry in the US, founded 1817), Lykens (a historic coal town), Elizabethville, Halifax (on the Susquehanna), Dauphin Borough (the namesake of the county), Williamstown, Berrysburg, Gratz, and the small rural communities of Upper Paxton Township, Halifax Township, Jackson Township, Jefferson Township, Lykens Township, Mifflin Township, and Washington Township.
