Lake Murray Corridor
Lake Murray
The lakefront and suburban communities along the eastern shore of 48,000-acre Lake Murray, stretching from Irmo and Seven Oaks north through Harbison, Ballentine, and Dutch Fork to the town of Chapin at the lake's northern end. Lake Murray -- created by the Saluda Dam in 1930 -- defines the lifestyle here, with boating, fishing, and lakeside dining. Irmo and the Harbison area are mature suburban communities with strong retail and dining along Harbison Boulevard. The Dutch Fork area (named for 18th-century German and Swiss settlers) is a rapidly growing family corridor served by the highly rated Lexington-Richland School District Five. Chapin, often called the 'Capital of Lake Murray,' has a charming small-town Main Street and is the northernmost suburb still within practical commute range.
