Lake Norman
The lakefront corridor north of Charlotte along I-77 and the shores of Lake Norman -- North Carolina's largest man-made lake. Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and Mooresville anchor this region, which also extends west to Denver in Lincoln County and north to Sherrills Ford in Catawba County. The Lake Norman area is defined by waterfront recreation (boating, fishing, lakeside dining), top-rated schools (Charlotte-Mecklenburg in the south, Iredell-Statesville and Mooresville Graded in the north), and a mix of master-planned neighborhoods and lakefront estates. Huntersville (pop. 68,800+) is the largest town; Davidson is a small-college community centered on Davidson College. I-77 Express Lanes provide a tolled, reliable commute to Uptown Charlotte in 25-40 minutes.
