The southern half of Anne Arundel County along the Chesapeake Bay. Anchored by Annapolis — Maryland's state capital, seat of the U.S. Naval Academy, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the country (founded 1649). The region includes Crofton, Davidsonville, Edgewater (across the South River), Arnold, Crownsville, Mayo, Deale, Galesville, Riva, and the Bay Ridge peninsula. The south county is the jumping-off point for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (US-50) to Kent Island and the Eastern Shore.
