North Valley Corridor

The CA-99 corridor north of Bakersfield through the heart of the San Joaquin Valley's agricultural belt. Delano (pop ~51,400) is the second-largest city in Kern County and the historic center of the farmworker movement — Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers organized here in the 1960s. Wasco (pop ~27,000) is the 'Rose Capital' of America, producing 55% of the nation's roses. McFarland (pop ~14,200) gained fame from the 2015 Disney film about its cross-country running program. These communities are predominantly agricultural with strong Latino cultural identity and the most affordable housing in the metro.
