The eastern suburban band of Rensselaer County, across the Hudson from Albany and stretching east toward the Massachusetts/Vermont line and the Berkshires. Anchored by East Greenbush (a major Albany commuter suburb), North Greenbush (home to the Rensselaer Technology Park), Sand Lake, Poestenkill, Brunswick (home to the Brunswick Central School District), Averill Park, Nassau, and Hoosick Falls further north. The eastern edge transitions to the Taconic Mountains and rural dairy country.
